Veppilakkatti | Curry leaves chutney powder
Healthy and tasty chutney powder made with curry leaves.
Veppilakkatti is Kerala’s traditional chutney powder. Chutney powders always make wonder in your meal. We can serve chutney powders with rice,idli,dosa etc… This veppilakkatti recipe I got from my neighbor aunty. It is very healthy and delicious also. Curry leaves helps to reduce cholesterol. Adding curry leaves in curries while seasoning is a common tradition in South India. I have already tried Thenga chammanthi podi (Coconut chutney powder),Chemmeen podi(Dry prawns chutney powder) and Idli podi( Ud dal chutney powder). All these are goes well with dosa,idli,rice etc..Hope you all will like this recipes.
How to Prepare Veppilakkatti?
Ingredients
1 bunch of Curry leaves
Grated coconut (1/4 of a whole coconut)
15 no of Dried red chillies/Chilli flakes
10 no of Shallots
2 no of garlic cloves(optional)
1 lemon sized Tamrind
Salt as required
2 spoon of Oil
Method
Step 01
Dry roast curry leaves for 2-3 minute. Keep aside.
Step 02
Heat oil in a pan. Add grated coconut,shallots,garlic and urd dal. Fry for 2-3 minute.
Step 03
Reduce flame and add chilli flakes/dried chilli,tamarind and turmeric powder. Saute for 1 minute.
Step 04
Allow the roasted ingredients to cool completely.
Step 05
Add salt and mix well.
Step 06
Transfer the mixture to a mixer grinder and make a coarse powder.
Step 07
Store it in an air tight container. Mix with oil while serving for better taste.
Step 08
Goes well with rice,idli or dosa
