10 Home Remedies For Cough


Cough is one of the most common health problem. It is not serious in most of the cases. We can cure cough with the things available in our home itself. You can try some of the remedies given below for cough and cold.

  1. Honey Shallot syrup
    Mix
    a) 1 spn. of honey
    b) 2 spn. of shallot juice(grind shallots(small onion) in a grinder without water and squeeze out the juice with hands)
    c) 1/2 of cumin powder.
    This mix we can give for both small kids(above one year) and adults. Serve 1/4 spn with 4-5 times a day (For kids reduce the quantity. i.e give 1/6 with 4-5 times a day)
  2. Honey Lemon syrup
    Mix
    a) 1 spn. of honey
    b) 2 spn. of lemon juice.
    Serve 1/2 spn with 4-5 times a day (For kids(above 1 1/2 yr) reduce the quantity. ie give 1/4 with 1-2 times a day)
  3. Shallots and Jaggery syrup
    Gently crush 4-5 no of shallots with 1 spn. of jaggery. Serve 1/2 spn with 4-5 times a day (For kids just squeeze the juice from this mix and giv(1/4 with 1-2 times a day) )
  4. Honey and dried ginger(chukku) syrup
    Mix 1/2 spn. of dried ginger powder in 1 1/2 spn. of honey. Serve 1/2 spn with 1-2 times a day(Not for kids).
  5. Dried ginger(chukku) with coffee powder(Chukku kaappi)
    Boil
    a) 3 cup of water
    b) 1/2 coffee powder
    c) 1/4 spn. of pepper powder
    d) 1/4 spn. of cumin powder
    e) 1/8 spn. of dried ginger powder
    f) 2 spn. of jaggery
    g) A handful of crushed guava leaves(optional)
    h) A handful of tulsi(basil).
    Cover the pan and bring to boil for 3-4 minutes. Drain it and drink hot .It is the traditional and perfect remedy for cough and cold. You can also have daily. It is good for immunity .
  6. Turmeric Milk(haldi milk).
    Mix 1/2 spn. of turmeric powder in one glass of milk. Turmeric is good for immunity and for fighting with cold and cough . You can daily give this turmeric milk to you kids to improve their immunity power( Reduce the quantity of turmeric(1/6 spn. of turmeric powder is enough for kids).   7. Turmeric and Honey
    Mix 1 spn. of turmeric powder with 2 spn. of honey and 1 spn. of lemon juice. Serve 2-3 times a day.
  8. Cumin water
    Boil you drinking water with 1 spn. of cumin seeds and drink often. You can also Mix 1 spn. of honey in warm water and drink 1-2 times a day. This also will clear mucus in your throat.
  9. Cumin seeds shallots and jaggery mix
    Crush all the ingredients in a grinder and serve often.
  10. Tulsi and honey syrupGrind Tulsi leaves and squeeze out the juice using you hand. Mix this juice with honey or salt. Serve morning and evening.
